VALE SOUTHERN APPOINTED FOR £3M DESIGN-AND-BUILD CONTRACT

Vale Southern Construction has secured a £3m design-and-build contract in Southampton.

The project will see the Portsmouth-based contractor construct six units spread across two separate blocks. Spanning a total of 16,941 sq ft, the development will be located in Empress Road in the Bevois Valley area of the city.

Vale Southern will be responsible for building the steel frames for the structures as well as the cladding and associated external works.

Managing director, Oliver West, commented: “This is speculative scheme that has been designed to meet a growing demand for both commercial and industrial space in the area. We’ll be creating the shell, enabling the buildings to be tailored to the requirements of a wide range of local businesses.

“The site is situated close to a busy industrial estate, so a key part of our role will be to minimise disruption for neighbouring businesses. Careful planning, scheduling and management will be essential.”

The development has been designed in partnership with HNW Architects and HOP is the civil and structural engineer.

Vale Southern is scheduled to be on site for 32 weeks.
